Privacy policy
Anchor Backgammon is a backgammon app, not a data business. This page describes exactly what it collects and why.
Last updated: 8 August 2026
The short version
- You can play without an account, and without giving us your name or email.
- There is no advertising, and no advertising or tracking SDK in the app.
- We do not sell or share your data, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- Coaching runs on your device. Your games are analysed locally, not on a server.
- You can ask us to delete everything, and we will.
Who is responsible
Altridex LLC, 418 Broadway Ste N, Albany, NY 12207, United States, is the controller of personal data described here. Contact owner@altridexllc.com.
What the app collects
An anonymous account identifier
When the app first runs it creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase Authentication. This produces a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email address or phone number. It exists so your settings and progress can be restored if you reinstall the app or use a second device.
Settings and progress
If cloud sync is active, the app stores a small set of values against that identifier: your preferences, which board designs you own, and your coaching and practice progress. This is stored in Google Cloud Firestore. It does not include your name or contact details.
An optional linked platform account
You may choose to link Game Center on Apple devices or Google Play Games on Android, so your data follows you across devices. If you do, we receive the identifier that platform issues for you, and your display name where the platform provides it. Linking is optional and the app works fully without it.
Online matches
If you play an online match, the moves, dice rolls and match score are relayed between you and your opponent so that both devices show the same game. Your opponent sees whatever display name your platform account provides. If you never play online, none of this applies.
Purchases
Board designs and other in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card details or billing address. We receive only confirmation that a purchase is valid, so the app can unlock what you bought.
What the app does not collect
No advertising identifiers, no location data, no contacts, no photos, no microphone or camera access, and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting service. The app contains no advertising SDK. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests to run the game and keep your progress intact across devices, and on the necessity of processing to perform the agreement between us when you play an online match or make a purchase. Where we ask for consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who else processes it
Google (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores the anonymous identifier and the synced values on our behalf. Apple and Google process purchases and, where you link them, your Game Center or Play Games account. We use no other processors.
How long it is kept
Synced data is kept while your account exists. Delete it at any time by writing to us, and we will remove the record and confirm when it is done.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to receive it in a portable form. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other US states with comparable laws have similar rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information and never have.
To exercise any of these, email owner@altridexllc.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Anchor Backgammon is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app can be played with no account at all, which collects no personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our processors store data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your data is transferred there. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which our processors have adopted.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how your data is used, tell you inside the app.
